The state of Mississippi and the entire nation has been going through a recession and the economy has been sluggish. Neshoba County has suffered as have most counties in Mississippi. Recent figures have shown that we hit an all time high with an over 11 percent unemployment rate. Many families are doing without many necessities and the poverty rate for Neshoba County has increased to over 25 percent. Unfortunately, the rate of poverty for children under the age of six is 28 percent. Many individuals are struggling to find employment. Some are being forced to look for employment outside of Neshoba County

  1. My name is Flora Warren. I have been living in Neshoba County for 6 years. I have learned more about my committe, and poerty. I have seen that in the committe that they have stored fixing up thes old building for more property is been open. The study circle shows me how to make it with my two kids that I have it helps a lot. I tell a lot of single parents that they shoud come to some of the meetings. But I only went to one it helps me a lot.
    the Baptist center helps a lot of single parents and older people. They give to people. They are also helping parents hat need help getting their holiday dinner together and their kids Christmas.
